I Shouldn't Have Said That
The Lovely Eggs return with an explosive new single I Shouldn’t Have Said That. Lurching, reeling and spitting with anger and regret, the song perfectly encapsulates the kitchen-sink realism of a good old verbal brawl. Heavier that anything they’ve done before, the track is inspired by the motoric Krautrock of Neu!, with David’s drum beats laying the foundation for a blistering, in-your-face slice of punk rock attitude and Holly’s vocals a screaming drawl, with swirling synths and distorted guitar providing an intense psychedelic squall. I Shouldn’t Have Said That was produced by legendary engineer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev), flinging the resolutely DIY Eggs into a whole new world. The result is spectacular. Far more ambitious and raucous than their previous work, I Shouldn’t Have Said That is a blistering, searing, highly-charged punk rock number. Released on limited edition black and white 7” vinyl and accompanied by bespoke artwork by Turner-Prize nominated outsider artist David Shrigley, the single is backed by brand new exclusive B Side Melody For Meathead – yet another in-your-face rant, this time taking on the nationalistic Mail-reading meatheads of Great Britain.
