The Muffs

The Muffs are an American punk rock band based in Southern California. Formed in 1991, the band consisted of guitarists Kim Shattuck and Melanie Vammen, bassist Ronnie Barnett, and drummer Criss Crass. After their first album release in 1993, the band underwent some lineup changes and achieved success with their second LP "Blonder and Blonder" in 1995. Known for their cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids In America," The Muffs went on hiatus after 2004 but returned in 2012 to record a new album. Unfortunately, lead singer Kim Shattuck passed away in 2019 due to complications from ALS.

Starting as a collaboration between former members of all-female hard rock group The Pandoras, The Muffs quickly gained recognition for their energetic punk sound. With catchy tunes and memorable covers like "Kids In America," they left a lasting impact on the music scene.

Despite facing challenges such as lineup changes and extended breaks, The Muffs remained dedicated to creating music that resonated with fans. Their final album "No Holiday" was released shortly after the tragic loss of singer Kim Shattuck but serves as a testament to her talent and contribution to punk rock.
