The Necks are an Australian experimental jazz trio formed in 1987. The band consists of Chris Abrahams on piano and Hammond organ, Tony Buck on drums, percussion and electric guitar, and Lloyd Swanton on bass guitar and double bass.
Since 2001, The Necks has been collaborating with Tim Whitten in the studio. Whitten has mixed and engineered over 13 albums for the band, adding his expertise to their unique sound.
The Necks' music is known for its improvisational style and ability to create mesmerizing sonic landscapes. With their innovative approach to jazz, they have gained a dedicated following worldwide.

'mosquito' begins with the sound of a hand drum over percussion, while a fragmentary high piano tinkles in the distance. these two elements persist for the entire cd, providing a support for the most gorgeous piano chord sequence which just repeats in an endless melancholy ecstasy. minimalist, austere and rigorous it may be, but this record is seriously haunting and sensuous. 'see through' is another beast entirely, it counter poses ripe piano chords and splashing cymbals against long passages of silence. the music comes in waves, the silences demand their own space, constantly retreating and endlessly re-appearing.
