Tito Puente

Tito Puente (1923-2000) was an influential American Latin bandleader, jazz, salsa and mambo musician. Born in Spanish Harlem, New York City to Puerto Rican parents, Puente became known as "El Rey Del Timbal" ("The King Of The Timbales"). He was a multi-talented artist who played various instruments including vibraphone, drum kit, conga drums, claves, piano, saxophone and clarinet.

Throughout his career, Tito Puente collaborated with numerous artists and bands such as *Tito Puente & His Orchestra*, Eddie Palmieri, Poncho Sanchez and Ray Barretto among others. His unique blend of Latin rhythms with jazz elements made him a pioneer in the genre.

Puente's music continues to inspire generations of musicians worldwide. With his energetic performances and infectious beats, he left an indelible mark on the music industry. From his early days in Spanish Harlem to becoming a global icon of Latin music, Tito Puente remains a legendary figure whose legacy lives on.
