BMG Rights Management, formerly known as Bertelsmann Music Group, is a global music conglomerate with a rich history in the industry. Originally formed in 1985 as a joint venture between Bertelsmann AG and RCA, BMG has since evolved into a powerhouse of music production and distribution.

In 1986, Bertelsmann acquired full ownership of RCA and Arista Records through the purchase of their joint venture's stock from General Electric. The following year, these labels were merged under the umbrella of Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), solidifying its position as a major player in the music world.

Cat Stevens is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and painter. Born on November 5, 1974 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, USA. He has made a significant impact on the music industry with his prolific body of work across various genres, particularly rock and alternative country.

Known for his versatility and creativity, Cat Stevens has captivated audiences worldwide with his heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies. His marriage to Mandy Moore in Savannah, Georgia in March 2009 brought him further into the public eye.

Inspired by artists such as Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Josh Ritter, Whiskeytown, and many others from a diverse range of musical backgrounds; Cat Stevens continues to push boundaries and create music that resonates with fans old and new.

Originally released 3 December 1978, Back to Earth would be Cat Steven’s 11th studio album and his last for almost 30 years. 1977 and 1978 were a period of great change for Cat Stevens. He had formally embraced the Muslim faith, changed his name to Yusuf Islam, been awarded the Sun Peace Award by the United Nations and had reunited with producer Paul Samwell-Smith and guitarist/collaborator Alun Davies to embark on one last record before turning his back on the music industry, seemingly for good.

Sonically, the album was a return to the acoustic sound of Yusuf’s earlier work. Intended, in part, as his swan song to the recording industry. 2006’s An Other Cup saw Yusuf return to music and with a re-found verve for his exceptional catalogue of work.

The original album remastered plus rare and previously unreleased recordings, live material and replica original release press pack, pamphlet, fanzine, posters and beautifully designed 60 page hardcover book telling the fascinating story behind Back To Earth.
