Allan Holdsworth

Allan Holdsworth (born August 6, 1946 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England – died April 16, 2017 in Vista, California, USA) was an English guitarist and composer renowned for his contributions to jazz fusion. Throughout the 1970s, he recorded with various bands before releasing his first solo album titled Velvet Darkness in 1976. However, it was his second solo album I.O.U., released in 1982 under his full artistic control that truly showcased his musical prowess.

Holdsworth's exceptional talent earned him numerous accolades and recognition within the music industry. He was honored with induction into Guitar Player Magazine's hall of fame and emerged as a five-time winner of the magazine's readers' poll. Additionally, Musician Magazine acknowledged him as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Influenced by artists such as Tribal Tech, Chick Corea Elektric Band, Scott Henderson and many others from diverse genres like fusion jazz and progressive rock - Allan Holdsworth left an indelible mark on the music world through his innovative guitar playing style and captivating compositions.
