Alan Jay Lerner

Alan Jay Lerner was an American prolific lyricist and composer. He was born on August 31, 1918, in New York City, NY, and passed away on June 14, 1986, in Manhattan, NY. Lerner is best known for his collaboration with Frederick Loewe in creating numerous jazz standards. Their first Broadway success came with the musical fantasy "Brigadoon" in 1947, which was later adapted into a film in 1954. Lerner's talent extended to screenwriting as well, earning him two Oscars for the screenplay of "An American In Paris" (1951) and "Gigi" (1958), along with a Grammy for "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever".
