Alphaville

Alphaville is a German synth-pop band formed in 1982 in Münster. The trio, led by vocalist Marian Gold (Hartwig Schierbaum), initially included synth players Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens. Inspired by Jean-Luc Goddard's film "Alphaville," the band changed their name from Forever Young to Alphaville, reflecting their futuristic vision.

In late 1984, Mertens left the band and was replaced by Ricky Echolette (Wolfgang Neuhaus) in early 1985. Despite lineup changes, Alphaville remains active today, performing new concerts and promoting re-mastered re-releases of their first albums.

With influences ranging from Yazoo to Duran Duran, Alphaville has carved out a unique place in the synth-pop genre. Their music continues to captivate audiences with its catchy melodies and thought-provoking lyrics.
