Club Nouveau

Club Nouveau is an American synth soul group that was formed in 1986 in Sacramento, CA by Jay King. After the breakup of Timex Social Club, Jay King created this new club and named it Club Nouveau. Their first hit, "Jealousy," was a response to Timex Social Club's "Rumors." They gained popularity with their covers of Bill Withers' "Lean On Me" and their own song "Why You Treat Me So Bad." Between 1986 and 1995, they released five albums. Early members Foster & McElroy left after the debut album to become one of the most successful production and songwriting teams in the late 1980s soul-R&B scene.
