Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Frankie Goes To Hollywood is an English group that was formed in Liverpool, UK in 1980. The band consisted of William Holly Johnson on vocals, Paul Rutherford on vocals and keyboards, Brian Nash on guitar, Peter Gill on drums, and Mark O'Toole on bass. They gained recognition after their performance of "Relax" on the Channel 4 TV show "The Tube", which led to a record deal with ZTT record label.

With the help of Trevor Horn's production skills and Paul Morley's innovative marketing ideas, Frankie Goes To Hollywood became more than just a pop group - they became a phenomenon. Their debut single "Relax" reached number one in the UK charts and achieved success across Europe and the USA. The band's subsequent releases also topped the charts, making them the first act to achieve this feat.

Although they were immensely popular in the UK and Europe, Frankie Goes To Hollywood struggled to replicate their success in the US. After extensive touring in 1985, they released their second album "Liverpool" produced by Stephen Lipson. However, it didn't match the sales of their debut album "Welcome To The Pleasuredome".

In 1987, lead vocalist Holly Johnson left the band for a solo contract with MCA. This resulted in a legal battle between him and ZTT record label. Eventually, Rutherford also quit and Frankie Goes To Hollywood disbanded without releasing any
