Hans Zimmer

Hans Zimmer is a German composer and record producer. He was born on September 12, 1957 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Zimmer began his musical career playing keyboards and synthesizers with various bands before working with film composer Stanley Myers. His breakthrough came with the score for the film "Rain Man" (1988), which earned him an Academy Award nomination. Since then, Zimmer and his studios have composed music for numerous major blockbusters, including "The Lion King" (1995) for which he won an Academy Award. Based in Santa Monica, California, Zimmer's studio Remote Control Productions has hosted many accomplished producers.

Zimmer's extensive catalogue of work includes composing the theme for the boxing series "Lights Out" (2005) and producing soundtracks for the anime series "Blood+" (2005). His studio has been home to talented composers such as Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell.
