People Under The Stairs

People Under the Stairs were an American hip hop group from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1997 and disbanded in 2019, the group consisted solely of Christopher Portugal (Thes One) and Michael Turner (Double K). With a DIY work ethic encompassing sampling, MCing, DJing, and producing, they crafted their unique sound. Despite not achieving mainstream or chart success, People Under the Stairs rejected being labeled as "underground" and garnered recognition and admiration from fellow musicians.
