Priest

Priest is a British Heavy Metal band that formed in Birmingham, England in 1969. They were one of the pioneering bands preceding the 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal' movement. The original lineup included guitarist John Perry, bassist Bruno Stapenhill, drummer John Partridge, and singer Al Atkins. Over the years, the band underwent several lineup changes and additions.

In 1970, Kenneth Downing and Ian Hill joined as guitarists to replace previous members. Drummers John Ellis and Chris Campbell later replaced Partridge. In 1973, Rob Halford became the new lead vocalist while John Hinch took over on drums. This lineup released a compilation album featuring songs from their last show with Atkins and Campbell as well as three tracks from Halford and Hinch's first performance.

A second guitarist named Glenn Tipton was added to the line-up in 1974. Between their formation and 1980, Priest went through various drummers before Dave Holland joined in early 1980 until his departure in 1988. Scott Travis then joined as their drummer in mid-1990.
