Shpongle is a psychedelic electronic music project formed in 1996 by Simon Posford and Raja Ram. They met at Butterfly Studios in Brixton, South London while working on separate projects. Inspired by their experience at Glastonbury festival, they decided to create something downtempo and thus Shpongle was born.
Their unique sound combines elements of "world music" with contemporary western psychedelic electronic music. Simon Posford handles the synth and studio work, while Raja Ram contributes flute arrangements and creative sensibilities.
