Thee Hypnotics

Thee Hypnotics is an English garage/psychedelic rock band that formed in 1985 in High Wycombe. They were pioneers of the early alternative rock scene, releasing two full-length albums and an EP from 1989-1990 before their drummer's unfortunate car accident during a US tour forced them into a hiatus. Despite never achieving mainstream success like their contemporaries The Black Crowes, Thee Hypnotics' music was heavily influenced by late-60s bands such as The Stooges, MC5, The Doors, early Led Zeppelin, and Pink Fairies.

After disbanding in 1998, they made a triumphant comeback in 2018 with the release of the box set "Righteously Re-Charged," which includes all of their studio albums. The current lineup consists of Jim Jones on vocals, Ray Hanson on guitar, Phil Smith on drums (since 1990 and again since 2018), and Jeremy Cottingham on bass (since 1997 and again since 2018).

Thee Hypnotics are often regarded as a largely-forgotten precursor to today's stoner rock genre. If you enjoy artists like The Lords of Altamont, Sonic's Rendezvous Band, or The Jim Jones Revue, then you won't want to miss out on experiencing the raw energy and psychedelic soundscapes that define Thee Hypnotics' unique musical style.
