Fear

Fear is a punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, CA, in 1977 by vocalist/guitarist Lee Ving and bassist Derf Scratch. Known for their controversial lyrics, Fear's music often aims to shock rather than be taken seriously. The "classic" lineup of the band included drummer Spit Stix and guitarist Philo Cramer. Fear gained notoriety after appearing in the movie "The Decline of Western Civilization" and on a 1981 episode of Saturday Night Live, where they caused such chaos that the network cut away from their performance.

After releasing their first LP, "The Record," in 1982, Ving fired Scratch and went through several bass players, including Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame. In 1993, Spit Stix and Philo Cramer left due to a financial dispute with Ving. However, Ving returned in 1995 with a new lineup and released another Fear album. He continued touring under the Fear name with various musicians.

In celebration of their 40th anniversary in 2018, Spit Stix and Philo Cramer rejoined Fear. Their music is often associated with bands like The Meatmen, Reagan Youth, Angry Samoans, Adolescents, Germs, T.S.O.L., Circle Jerks, Gang Green, and JFA among others.
