Johnny "Guitar" Watson's self-titled album. Available here on Gold Colored LP.

The original Stratocaster showman! Who set the standards for flash and guitar virtuosity? Johnny Guitar Watson! His self-titled 1963 King LP contains killer late 50s and early 60s material like Broke and Lonely, Cuttin In, his signature tune Gangster of Love, Sweet Lovin Mama and even his take on Embraceable You, complete with strings! This first ever US reissue is sourced from the original King reels and pressed on colored vinyl at RTI for optimal sound and style! Watson (1935-1996) kicked off his career as the teen dynamo of the Houston blues in the late 40's. When his parents separated in 1950, his mother took 15 year old John to LA, another blues/R&B hotbed. He was billed as Young John Watson on his first records for Federal, a King Records subsidiary label, in 1952. That lasted two years. After he saw the 1954 Joan Crawford western Johnny Guitar, he became Johnny "Guitar" Watson forever. He\'d record again under that name for King in the late 50's and early 60's. Mastered by Bob Irwin from the original King reels, cut by Kevin Gray, and pressed on colored vinyl at RTI for optimal sound and style!
