Maceo Parker

Maceo Parker is an American funk/jazz saxophonist, best known for his work with James Brown. He joined Brown's band in 1963, playing baritone sax before switching to tenor. In 1970, Maceo and other bandmates formed their own group called Maceo & All The King's Men. After rejoining Brown's touring band in 1973, they eventually parted ways again in 1974.

Maceo then collaborated with George Clinton and his projects like Parliament and Funkadelic. He signed with James Brown once more in 1984 for a four-year stint before embarking on a solo career in the '90s. His early releases showcased jazz influences, but he later focused on funk music.

Throughout his career, Maceo has released numerous albums and made guest appearances on various projects, including collaborations with Prince. Born on February 14, 1943 in Kinston, North Carolina, Maceo Parker continues to tour extensively and captivate audiences with his energetic live performances alongside long-time collaborators Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis.
