Mccarthy

McCarthy formed in 1985 in Barking, Essex, England and consisted of Gary Baker on drums, Malcolm Eden on guitar and vocals, Tim Gane on lead guitar, John Williamson on bass, and Laetitia Sadier on backup vocals. By 1990, when front man Malcolm Eden decided to put the band to rest, they had released three records and several EPs. Malcolm went on to form Herzfeld while Tim and Laetitia went on to form Stereolab.

Mccarthy's music is characterized by their unique blend of indie pop and political lyrics. Their sound was influenced by bands such as *The Wolfhounds*, *Close Lobsters*, and *The Brilliant Corners*. Despite their relatively short run as a band, McCarthy left a lasting impact on the indie music scene with their catchy melodies and thought-provoking messages.

Although Mccarthy may not be widely known outside of indie music circles, their influence can still be heard today in the works of artists like *Razorcuts*, *Mighty Mighty*, and *Even As We Speak*. Fans of jangly guitars and intelligent songwriting will appreciate Mccarthy's contribution to the genre.
