Milton Nascimento

Milton Nascimento is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist born on October 26, 1942. He was adopted as a baby by his mother's former employers and grew up in Três Pontas, Minas Gerais. Nascimento began his career as a DJ and later joined samba groups before moving to Belo Horizonte where he became part of the Clube da Esquina movement. Known for his falsetto and tonal range, Nascimento has released highly acclaimed songs such as "Maria, Maria" and "Canção da América". His international breakthrough came with collaborations with artists like Wayne Shorter, Paul Simon, and Quincy Jones.

Nascimento's music gained widespread acclaim after appearing on jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter's album Native Dancer in 1974. This led to collaborations with renowned artists including Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, George Duke, and Quincy Jones. He also worked with Duran Duran on their album Duran Duran (The Wedding Album) in 1993. Nascimento has contributed to various benefit albums throughout his career.
