New Model Army

With their roots embedded in the early punk era, New Model Army was formed in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, in 1980. Led by Justin "Slade The Leveller" Sullivan (guitar, vocals), the band quickly gained attention for their brand of punk folk/rock and attracted a loyal cult following who shared their grievances towards the Tory government policies of the 80s.

Their debut album showcased militant themes such as "Spirit Of The Falklands" and "Vengeance", along with introspective tracks like "A Liberal Education". Not afraid to express their beliefs, they never compromised for commercial gain. Despite some controversy with BBC Television's Top Of The Pops show, New Model Army continued to release high-quality albums while maintaining credibility with their original fanbase.

After leaving EMI in 1991, they found a new home on Epic Records but eventually returned to self-publishing and going back to their roots. With an impressive run of UK chart singles between 1985 and 1991, including the hit song "No Rest", New Model Army broke through to a wider audience without compromising their sound or message. They continue to release new material and tour as of 2023.
