Orlando Julius

Nigerian saxophonist, singer, keyboardist, composer and bandleader Orlando Julius was a pioneer of African music. Born on September 22nd, 1943 in Ikole Ekiti, Nigeria, he blended highlife and other African styles with American influences. Orlando Julius played a crucial role in the early career of Fela Kuti by helping him form his band Koola Lobitos. He also collaborated with Hugh Masekela.

With a career spanning several decades, Orlando Julius left an indelible mark on the music scene. His unique sound influenced many artists and continues to resonate today.
