Peter Gabriel is an English singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and entrepreneur. Born on 13 February 1950 in Chobham, Surrey, England, he is known for his contributions to the music industry.

Originally the lead singer of prog-rockers Genesis from 1967 to 1975, Gabriel left the band to pursue solo projects. Throughout his career, he has achieved multi-platinum selling albums and established himself as a successful artist.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Gabriel founded the annual WOMAD music festival and owns Real World Studios, one of Britain's most sought-after recording studios. He also holds joint ownership of Solid State Logic, a prominent recording studio hardware manufacturer.

Scratch My Backâ€¦And I'll Scratch Yours is a series of song exchanges in which Gabriel and other leading artists reinterpret each other's songs. Seasoned superstars like David Bowie, Paul Simon and Lou Reed lent their collaboration to this double LP, but also younger acts like Arcade Fire, Bon Iver and Radiohead.
