Plaid

London duo Ed Handley and Andy Turner started recording as Plaid while still members of Black Dog Productions. The first Plaid album, *Mbuki Mvuki*, was released in 1991. In 1995, Ed and Andy ended their five year collaboration with Ken Downie and left The Black Dog. Plaid released the *Not for Threes* EP that same year, and the pair began rechanneling their efforts full-time.

Plaid's music is often described as a fusion of electronic genres such as IDM, techno, and ambient. Their sound is characterized by intricate rhythms, lush melodies, and a unique blend of organic and synthetic elements. Drawing inspiration from various sources including science fiction literature and visual art, Plaid creates immersive sonic landscapes that captivate listeners.

With a discography spanning over three decades, Plaid has established themselves as pioneers in the electronic music scene. They have collaborated with renowned artists such as Björk and have remixed tracks for artists like Goldfrapp and Depeche Mode. Known for their captivating live performances, Plaid continues to push boundaries with their innovative approach to music production.
