William John Evans, better known as Bill Evans, was an American jazz pianist, composer, and artist. Born on August 16, 1929 in Plainfield, New Jersey, he became one of the most famous and influential jazz pianists of the 20th century. With his innovative use of impressionist harmony and unique interpretation of traditional jazz repertoire, Evans left a lasting impact on generations of musicians.

Evans' distinct style was characterized by his rhythmically independent and "singing" melodic lines. His contributions to the world of jazz music were unparalleled. Throughout his career, he showcased his immense talent as a composer and performer.

Tragically, Bill Evans passed away on September 15, 1980 in New York City at the age of 51. Despite his untimely death, his legacy lives on through his timeless recordings and continued influence on contemporary keyboardists and jazz saxophonists.

Inner Spirit: The 1979 Concert at the Teatro General San Martín, Buenos Aires is the first official release of pianist Bill Evans with Marc Johnson and Joe LaBarbera captured live at the Teatro General San Martín in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 27, 1979. Remastered from the original tape reels and in cooperation with the Bill Evans estate, this limited edition 2 LP set includes an extensive booklet with rare photos from the actual concert, essays by American author/journalist Marc Myers, and Argentine author Claudio Parisi—who wrote the book Grandes del jazz internacional en Argentina (1956-1979)—plus new interviews with Marc Johnson, Joe LaBarbera, and pianist Enrico Pieranunzi. Mastered by Bernie Grundman and pressed at Record Technology Inc. This concert recording is available for the first time and is the companion piece to the Resonance release, Morning Glory: The 1979 Concert at the Teatro Gran Rex, Buenos Aires with Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell.
