Mute are pleased to announce the release of Irmin Schmidt’s Villa Vunderbar on November 22. This piece will be on limited edition clear vinyl with a booklet containing extensive notes. This updated version of the Can founder’s retrospective compilation album includes music from 2018’s 5 Klavierstüke and other tracks released on vinyl for the first time. The compilation includes tracks such as Villa Wunderbar, Kick On The Floods and Bohemian Step, alongside remixes by Schmidt of two Can tracks, Alice and Last Night Sleep, as well extracts from his extensive soundtrack work. With the heartbreaking passing of Jaki Liebezeit and Holger Czukay in 2017 – and Michael Karoli in 2001 – Irmin Schmidt is now the last living founding member of CAN, one of the most celebrated avant-garde bands in music history.
