Album artwork for His Greatest Misses by Robert Wyatt

We are elated to announce the release of Robert Wyatt's His Greatest Misses. Previously released exclusively in Japan as a limited edition CD in 2004 (and then reissued by us to CD in 2010), we are happy to be bringing it to vinyl for the first time. The vinyl release is timed in conjunction with the publication of Side by Side (Faber) which presents the lyrics, poems, writings, and drawings of Wyatt and his creative partner, English painter and songwriter, Alfie Benge.

Robert Wyatt, for those who are new to him, was a founding member of influential English rock bands, Soft Machine and Matching Mole, with a solo career that has lasted for over forty years. During this time he's guest edited the Today Programme, curated Meltdown Festival, and collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Björk, Brian Eno, John Cage, Carla Bley, and Scritti.

His Greatest Misses a a7-track compilation is the prefect introduction to the music of Robert Wyatt. It spans Wyatt's decades-long career. The collection includes selections dating from Rock Bottom (1974) to Cuckolant (2003). The album is not in chronological order, however it helps make the subtle point that Wyatt's recordings are best considered as a non-linear catalogue. The world he creates through his music is a world through which the listener can move at any pace, in any direction.
