The Cramps tap deep and sure into the trashy American aesthetic of monster movies, T'n'A exploitation flicks, voodoo zombies and horror comics. From the inhuman, camp-creepiness of "Human Fly" and the punked-out cover of "Domino" to the eerie twang of "The Natives Are Restless" and "Primitive," PSYCHEDELIC JUNGLE and the earlier EP, GRAVEST HITS is a classic. Singer Lux Interior comes across as a pompadoured cross between Vincent Price and Elvis Presley, with a little Bela Lugosi and the Crypt Keeper thrown in too. His amour Poison Ivy keeps that primal rhythm with her inimitable guitar. This is great music for strolling through a graveyard, or getting lost in the bayou. It's sexy, macabre, and funny as hell.
