Raphael Saadiq

Raphael Saadiq, born Charlie Ray Wiggins on 14 May 1966 in Oakland, California, is an American singer, bassist, songwriter and record producer in the R&B/soul traditions. He began playing music at a young age and formed Tony! Toni! Toné! with his brother Dwayne Wiggins in the mid-1980s. In addition to his successful solo career in the 1990s, he was also a member of R&B group Lucy Pearl. Saadiq has collaborated with Grammy-winning artists such as D'Angelo and Q-Tip, among others. He founded his own record label Pookie Entertainment in 2002.

In 2007, Saadiq produced UK soul singer Joss Stone's third album and she featured on his fourth solo album along with Stevie Wonder.

Throughout his career, Raphael Saadiq has made significant contributions to the R&B/soul genre through his talent as a musician and producer.
