Sumy (from 'Surinam Baby', a nickname given to him by his friends) was born August 1957 in Paramaribo, Surinam. Initially playing on selfmade instruments as a hobby, Sumy started his music career in 1979 with buying real instruments (a Hammond organ, a Rhodes piano and a PPG synthesizer), writing, recording and releasing his first single on his own independent label [L=Sumy Records] and performing with his band 'The Freaky Thangs'. Thanks to radio DJ Theo Stokkink the single picked up airplay. To get a better distribution of music he got a license deal at Philips Records, Hilversum for his next singles.

All his music is currently governed by his record company [L=Galaxy Europe Music].
Since 1986, he goes by the name (Sumy) Krisnallah

Surinam born Sumy (real name Kenneth Sumter) started his musical career in the late 70s. During the early 80s Sumy signed a licensing deal with Philips for two singles 'The Funky ''G'' (Only Comes At Night)' and 'Funkin' In Your Mind' plus recording and releasing an LP on his own record label Galaxy Records. The much sought after and very rare 'Funkin' In Your Mind' 12-inch proto-funk/disco track with vocoder is remastered from the original tapes and available for Record Store Day.
