Oh My Gawd!!!... The Flaming Lips, released in 1987, opens and closes with references to The Beatles. It starts with the quote “take this, brother. May it serve you well” Revolution 9, and closes with “turn off your mind, relax” from Tomorrow Never Knows. Further evolving the sound on their debut, The Flaming Lips' second album finds the band mining the psychedelic aspects of their sound even more. The bands ambitious nature begins to reveal itself with Ummagumma-era Pink Floyd, Mountain, and even Blue Cheer becoming clear influences on their sound. Includes such seminal tracks as One Million Billionth Of A Millisecond On A Sunday Morning, Maximum Dream For Evil Knievel, and Prescription: Love.
