The Isley Brothers

The Isley Brothers are an American R&B/soul group from Cincinnati, Ohio. Formed in the early 1950's, the original group consisted of O’Kelly Isley, Rudolph Isley, Ronald Isley and Vernon Isley (who tragically died in a 1956 automobile accident). They gained popularity with their early hit “Shout!” in 1959. In 1963, they established their own label T-Neck and even had the talented Jimi Hendrix on lead guitar for a while. Signing on to Motown in 1965, they recorded the classic “This Old Heart Of Mine." Leaving Motown in 1968, they relaunched T-Neck and released another hit "It's Your Thing" in 1969. Adding Ernie and Marvin Isley as well as Chris Jasper to their lineup in 1973, they continued to release hits like “Between the Sheets," “Choosey Lover,” or “For the Love Of You” until 1983.

In recognition of their immense contribution to music, The Isley Brothers were rightfully inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame as performers in 1992.
