Venetian Snares

Aaron Funk, born on January 11, 1975 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is a producer of electronic music known as Venetian Snares. His distinctive style incorporates unconventional time signatures and rapid rhythms, creating intense and stimulating tracks. He gained recognition in experimental techno circles through his signing with the Planet Mu label run by Mike Paradinas. Funk's critically acclaimed work has been praised by influential figures like John Peel.

Funk's musical journey began with his first release, an EP for the History Of The Future Label. He went on to release music for labels such as Zhark and CLFST alongside Stunt Rock. When Mike Paradinas discovered Greg Hates Car Culture, he wasted no time in signing Funk to Planet Mu. In early 2001, the first Venetian Snares LP on Planet Mu was released as a collaboration with Speedranch. This was followed by five more releases before the end of 2002.

Throughout his career, Funk has continued to record for various labels including Hymen, Addict, and Sublight Records. In addition to his work as Venetian Snares, he has also recorded under different aliases such as Snares Man!, BeeSnares, Snares and Senetian Vnares.
