Fiercely political hardcore punk is a style of music that has never fully gone out of fashion. Punk's origins as politically charged music still make it an ideal form for agitating the status quo. Philadelphia's mixed-gender hardcore rabble rousers Witch Hunt are the latest to carry on the tradition, creating a raw, lo-fi racket that recalls classic acts like Crass and the Exploited. Even more melodic tracks like "Everyday" hum with dark energy, and full-on wall-wreckers like "Septa Death" and "Treadmill-March" burn with intensity. Slower tracks, like "Void," come encrusted in muck and teeter on the edge of oblivion.
