Piero Piccioni

Piero Piccioni, born in Torino on December 6, 1921, was a renowned soundtrack composer. Initially following his father's footsteps as a lawyer, he eventually left the legal profession to pursue his passion for music. A highly skilled pianist and organist, Piccioni gained recognition within the Italian film industry by playing for friends and colleagues. It was director Michelangelo Antonioni who first encouraged him to compose for the big screen.

Under the pseudonym Piero Morgan, Piccioni specialized in a soft jazz style that became his trademark. He collaborated with notable figures such as comedian/director Alberto Sordi and directors Alberto Lattuada, Vittorio De Sica, Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini, Francesco Rosi and more. His compositions graced films like "Blow Up," "Zabriskie Point," "After The Fox," and "The Stranger."

Piccioni passed away on July 23, 2004 in Rome at the age of 82. His legacy lives on through his timeless contributions to film soundtracks.
