Vic Chesnutt

Vic Chesnutt was a singer-songwriter from Athens, Georgia. Despite being paralyzed in a car accident at age 18, he continued to pursue his passion for music and performed in a wheelchair. His talent caught the attention of Michael Stipe, who produced his first two albums. Chesnutt gained wider recognition with the release of a tribute album featuring covers of his songs by famous musicians such as Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins, Madonna, R.E.M., and Live. He collaborated with various artists including Lambchop, Widespread Panic (as Brute), Elf Power, Bill Frisell, Guy Picciotto, and members of Fugazi.

Tragically, on December 25th, 2009, Chesnutt passed away due to an overdose of muscle relaxants after being in a coma at an Athens hospital.
