Philip Glass

American composer and musician, Philip Glass, was born on January 31, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. He studied music with notable figures such as Vincent Pershichetti, Darius Milhaud, and Nadia Boulanger. Glass's perspective on composition changed after collaborating with Ravi Shankar in 1966. In 1968, he founded the Philip Glass Ensemble to perform his own music and later started Chatham Square Production in 1971 to release his work.
