Blur is an indie rock/pop band from London, England. Formed in 1989 as Seymour, the band consists of Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon (1989-2002, 2008- ), Alex James, and Dave Rowntree. Initially influenced by bands like The Stone Roses and My Bloody Valentine, Blur later reinvented themselves with a retro spectrum of British rock and pop music. Their album "Parklife" played a pivotal role in the Britpop cultural movement that swept across the UK. Over the years, Blur has evolved their sound to encompass diverse influences from around the world.

Throughout their career, Blur has released several successful albums including "Modern Life Is Rubbish", "The Great Escape", and "Think Tank". They have also explored experimental art rock elements reminiscent of their early days as an indie artrock group called Seymour. Noteworthy live and session members include Wayne Hernandez on lead vocals with backing choirs since 1997 and Simon Tong who replaced Coxon for a tour in 2003-04.

In February 2015, Blur surprised fans with news of a new album titled "The Magic Whip" which was released on April 25th of that year. With their ever-evolving sound and continued creativity, Blur remains an influential force in the music industry.

Parlophone is an anglicization of the German [l=Parlophon] label, registered as a trademark in 1902 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of [b]Salon Kinematograph Co. GmbH[/b], later merged into [l=Carl Lindström A.-G.]. The first Parlophon records are pressed in 1910. 

By 1923, Parlophone proper appears in London administered by English Lindström branch known as [l311921],  Parlophon records were pressed in London and sold locally. By 1926 extended operations extended to press for export in Australia (#cat A) until the australian factory [l=Parlophone Co. Ltd.] was created somewhere the next year. These companies were subsequently taken over by [l97841] in 1927, following its acquisition of [l275192] in 1926, thus becoming a constituent part of [l293204] (EMI) when that company merged with [l253617] in 1931.

The label largely operated as a Jazz and Novelty label until manager, [a=George Martin], signed the [a=The Beatles] in 1962. As a result of its subsequent success and profile, the label was earmarked for phasing out in 1973 in favour of [l=EMI] (the label), however the parlophone imprint continued to be used by registered trademark owner [l=EMI Records Ltd.] and affiliated companies.

In September 2012 following the acquisition of [l1330982]'s US and Asian interests by [l=Universal Music Group], Parlophone and the former EMI Records Ltd. were merged as the [l806790] (PLG Holdco Ltd.) and spun off to be sold. 

They were sold to [l=Warner Music Group] in March 2013.
The Parlophone label is now owned by [l=Parlophone Records Ltd.], the re-named EMI Records Ltd., itself a subsidiary of [l=Warner Music International].

The Beatles were not part of the Parlophone Label Group and their catalogue was acquired by [l=Universal].

For their sixth album Heart and Soul, the band were keen to give everything to make a record they are proud of. Their legacy is there with a mix of carefree, party-ready tracks, heartfelt ballads that showcases the band's top tier vocals and instantly classic-sounding bangers. For this record the band worked with the man that signed them, industry legend and A&amp;R miracle maker Hugh Goldsmith, and wrote with MNEK, song-writing and production team Dsign Music and producer Paul Visser, as well as covering a favourite from back in the day in the shape of 112's flirtatious 2001 R&amp;B classic, Dance With Me.So much of what makes Heart and Soul work is its through line from the past to the present. From classic Blue ballad to moments that sees them experiment with rockier textures. The linking element is always those four voices and an inherent awareness of what makes Blue tick. For the band, this is the first album in a while that has captured that early spirit so effortlessly and they're rightfully confident about it.
