Dio was an iconic heavy metal artist known for his powerful vocals and theatrical stage presence. Born Ronald James Padavona in 1942, Dio began his music career in the late 1950s as a member of various rock bands. In the 1970s, he gained recognition as the lead vocalist of Rainbow and later joined Black Sabbath, where he replaced Ozzy Osbourne. Dio's solo career took off in the 1980s with hits like "Holy Diver" and "Rainbow in the Dark." His distinctive voice and lyrics exploring fantasy themes made him a beloved figure in the metal community. Despite his untimely death in 2010, Dio's legacy continues to inspire generations of rock fans.

Vertigo is a multinational music label that was launched in the UK on November 7, 1969. It quickly gained popularity and was adopted by other labels within the global Phonogram group. In 1971, Vertigo made its way to the US through the Phonogram subsidiary. The label became known for releasing popular progressive rock albums in the 1970s and is currently owned by Universal Music Group.

The original logo of Vertigo, known as the "swirl" logo, was created by Marina Apollonio in 1967. This iconic logo remained in use from 1969 to 1973 and featured a plain white A-side with a complete tracklist and a black B-side for certain releases. In early 1973, the label design changed to another iconic image called the "spaceship," which was painted by Roger Dean. This design appeared in various shades of blues and greens throughout the '70s.

Around 1981, UK releases of Vertigo started using a more plain design with an orange background while other European markets continued to use the spaceship design. With its rich history and diverse range of artists, Vertigo remains an influential force in the music industry today.

Released to celebrate the Argentinean bandoneon master's 75th birthday, El Encuentro (The Encounter) reveals new aspects of Dino Saluzzi's boundless creativity. It's his first live album for ECM (recorded at Amsterdam's renowned Muziekgebouw) and features new orchestral music with outstanding soloists - Dino himself, German cellist Anja Lechner, and Dino's brother Felix Saluzzi on saxophone. The recording also marks the ECM debut of Holland's Metropole Orchestra and their gifted young conductor Jules Buckley. The flowing music, with strings shadowing the movement of the bandoneon, extends the spirit of Dino's "storytelling" solo works such as Andina (to which the piece "Plegaria Andina" makes reference). Dino says, "a lot can be told using few elements. The music should not be too rational. It has to brim with innocence." The cast of soloists draws on long playing associations. Dino and Felix Saluzzi have many decades of shared musical experience. They can be heard together in Dino's "family band" projects Mojotoro and Juan Condori. Dino and Anja Lechner collaborated on the critically-acclaimed Kultrum project with the Rosamunde Quartet and on numerous duo concerts since then. Their collaborative album Ojos Negros was a major success both artistically and commercially.
