Fast 30 Jahre nach seiner ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung freut sich Coalmine Reissues, diese Sonderausgabe von Mic Geronimos Debüt-LP "The Natural" auszugraben, die die erste Neuauflage des Albums seit 2012 markiert. Nach dem Erfolg der klassischen Alben von Nas (Ilmatic) und der zweiten LP von Mobb Deep, The Infamous, hatte sich der Bezirk Queens als Mekka der Talente erwiesen, und so begann die Suche nach dem nächsten vielversprechenden Emcee, der den Schwung anheizen sollte. Es bedurfte erst einer lokalen Highschool-Talentshow, um Geronimos Talente zu entdecken, und zwar von dem baldigen Musikmogul Irv Gotti, was zu einem Vertrag mit Blunt Recordings für die Veröffentlichung von Mics Debüt führte. Das Album bietet nicht nur einen epochalen Soundtrack, an dem unter anderem Da Beatminerz und Buckwild mitgewirkt haben, sondern auch Gastauftritte von The Lost Boyz, Royal Flush und O.C. sowie von Jay Z, DMX und Ja Rule, die alle auf dem gefeierten Posse-Song Time to Build" zu hören sind, der die erste Zusammenarbeit mit Murder Inc. darstellt.
