Krautrock

Pioneering early Berlin rock, jazz, electronic and experimental music label. Ohr is well known as one of the key labels of the Krautrock scene. Established by producer Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser and Hansa founder / Metronome executive Peter Meisel, it also spawned the Die Kosmischen Kuriere and Kosmische Musik labels.

The first Ohr LP was released in April 1970. The final release was completed in December 1973 (released early 1974). In this time, they released 33 albums (four of which were double LPs) and twelve 7" singles.

Ohr and its partner labels: Pilz and Pop Import ran into difficulties with litigation raised against the company by some of its signed artists, causing the seizure of all assets and shutting down of Ohr and related labels in 1975. The label archives were stored at Dieter Dierks' vaults, some rights were assigned to Metronome (with further re-releases on Ohr or Brain), and later on some releases (whose rights had not reverted to the original artists) were licensed out via partners of Dieter Dierks' own ZYX Music.

KrautrockProg band, Mythos, was formed in 1969 in Berlin, Germany. Originally known as The Lovely People, they changed their name to Kraftwerk before settling on Mythos due to another band with the same name. Led by multi-instrumentalist Stephan Kaske, who also served as the lead singer, Mythos drew inspiration from Pink Floyd and Hawkwind but incorporated a wider range of sounds.

Mythos' early albums showcased a cosmic Krautrock sound while their mid/late 70's incarnation leaned towards heavier electronic rock. Eventually, the band disbanded and Stephan Kaske continued Mythos as a solo project, exploring electro-pop and later venturing into soundtracks and library music.

formed by young multi-instrumentalist stephan kaske in 1969, mythos were berlin's finest space rockers, able to swim and dive between raging space-treks a la hawkwind and blissed-out cosmic drifts in the style of their stable-mates ash ra temple or tangerine dream. their legendary debut album showed them in top-form, specially in the long suite "encyclopaedia terrae" were they showcase their playing abilities and unique style via the extended instrumental passages. somewhere else in the album, kaske surprises us with his flute playing or his caracteristical vocals (a bit in the style of vdgg's peter hammill). a classic album which deserves to be heard by a wider public. deluxe gatefold vinyl cover, vinyl only, limited to 500 copies.
