Founded in 2005 by Gunther Buskies as a sister label to Tapete Records, Bureau B specializes in releasing a diverse range of electronic and avant-garde music. A pioneer in the field of electronic music, Hans-Joachim Roedelius is considered one of the founders of contemporary popular electronic music. Born on October 26th, 1934, in Friedenau / Berlin, he has lived in Baden, south of Vienna since 1978 where he began his career as a professional composer/musician/writer in the late sixties. He has appeared on well over 100 releases between his own work and collaborations with various composers and musicians including Brian Eno, Holger Czukay, Michael Rother, and many others.

Roedelius was a founding member of several experimental groups and projects such as "Geräusche," "Plus/minus," "Per Sonare," "Kluster," "Cluster," "Harmonia," and more. In 2011, he formed a new variant of Cluster called Qluster alongside Onnen Bock after breaking off formal ties with Dieter Moebius. Throughout his career, Roedelius has also collaborated with choreographers for various festivals including the Wiener Festwochen and Donaufestival.

reissue - originally released in 1991: in classical music, 'pp' (piano piano = pianissimo) is a dynamic indication of particularly soft music. and 'piano piano' is a very soft, quiet album. roedelius assumes the role of a fairytale character with his piano music, transported to a strange, fantastical landscape where, filled with awe and amazement, he tries to get his bearings. initial comparisons were drawn between the piano music of roedelius and that of eric satie. this was no more accurate than the erroneous 'ambient' label pinned to his material. satie's compositions were based on rigid formalism roedelius strives to free himself from the restrictive corset of form, whilst 'ambient' belies the careful listening which is required to appreciate his to the full. nor does 'piano piano' sit halfway between satie and ambient, instead tracing roedelius' own stylistic path into musical territory which he alone can reveal to us, the listeners.
