<p>Say Lou Lou is a musical duo from Sweden and Australia consisting of twin sisters Miranda and Elektra Kilbey. After a swift ascension in commercial success and all of the concessions and critique that goes along with it, the twins realized that they’d lost a bit of themselves in the process. They had begun to question who they were as women, who they were as artists. Was it possible to be sexual and talented; was it possible to be sexual and taken seriously? They decided that in order to create music that was honest and true to them, they needed to take some time to reflect on their experiences and cultivate an environment that would better suit their creative process. Leaving the corporate music world and anything extraneous behind, they set off to the hills of Los Angeles where the two embarked upon what they call their Renaissance time. They assembled a small team of producers and songwriters dedicated to their vision of fostering love and respect, and spent the next reclusive year in an endless cycle of songwriting, brainstorming, cooking, eating, drinking, talking, arguing, drinking, smoking, cooking, eating, recording. “It was some of the best times of our lives. It was intense. We needed to be this symbiotic creature,” explains Miranda. “We only rarely let others in, and with them, their opinions. We needed to make this on our own this time and made decisions that were right for us and our art instead of making compromises because someone gave us money.” The result of this effort is the very personal upcoming album Immortelle, a moody and sensual collection of songs, each of which represents a different facet of the powerful and dynamic female psyche.</p>
