Slade is an English rock band that rose to prominence during the glam rock era of the early 1970s. With seventeen consecutive Top 20 hits and six number ones, they are considered the most successful British group of the 1970s. Led by Noddy Holder's powerful vocals and Dave Hill's distinctive dress sense, Slade became known for their deliberate misspelling of song titles. Their best-selling single, "Merry Xmas Everybody," has sold over one million copies.

Originally named Ambrose Slade, the band reluctantly changed their name to satisfy a record deal with Fontana Records. Under new management, they shortened their name to Slade and released a commercially unsuccessful LP before achieving success in the UK charts. While they struggled to break into the US market, Slade influenced several American bands such as Kiss and Cheap Trick.

After some lineup changes over the years, including periods performing as Slade II, the band continued under different versions until finally settling on their current lineup in 2020. Known for their energetic performances and anthemic songwriting style, Slade remains an iconic figure in British rock music.

It operates under the name BMG Chrysalis in the USA, UK, and Sweden, following its acquisition of Chrysalis plc. In 2012, Bertelsmann bought out Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.'s share of the company after an unsuccessful attempt to acquire EMI's recorded-music assets. While BMG Rights Management is the successor of the original Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), it has undergone significant changes and now operates independently with no connection to its former incarnation.

Reissue of Slade’s first soundtrack album and fifth studio album Slade In Flame. Originally released on 29th November 1974, it entered the UK album chart at #6 and it was certified gold by the BPI in February 1975.When Slade embarked upon their one and only movie in 1974, fans and critics alike were expecting something like a glam rock update of the Beatles' A Hard Days Night, released a decade earlier. After all, Slade were the ultimate good time band, irreverent, loud and armed with a terrific set of singalong stompers. Expectations were confounded, however, upon release of the film. Gritty realism, exposing the seedy reality of band life in the late 60's, was the order of the day and flame is all the better for it.
