A melodic death metal band from Helsingborg, Sweden, Soilwork was founded in 1995 by vocalist Björn "Speed" Strid and guitarist Peter Wichers. Originally known as Inferior Breed, the group changed their name to Soilwork in 1996. Over the years, the band's sound has evolved with each release, eventually gaining a commercial appeal that allowed them to break out of the underground scene. Their album "Figure Number Five" in 2003 solidified their status as one of Sweden's most successful metal bands alongside In Flames.
