BMG Rights Management, formerly known as Bertelsmann Music Group, is a global music conglomerate with a rich history in the industry. Originally formed in 1985 as a joint venture between Bertelsmann AG and RCA, BMG has since evolved into a powerhouse of music production and distribution.

In 1986, Bertelsmann acquired full ownership of RCA and Arista Records through the purchase of their joint venture's stock from General Electric. The following year, these labels were merged under the umbrella of Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), solidifying its position as a major player in the music world.

In 2004, BMG joined forces with Sony Music to create Sony BMG Music Entertainment. However, in 2008, Bertelsmann sold its stake in the company, leading to the formation of BMG Rights Management. Today, BMG continues to thrive as a leading record label and distributor worldwide.

Two south London fellows called [a=Alan Lancaster] (bass) and [a=Francis Rossi] (guitar - known as [a5373623] during the band's early years) founded the band in 1962. First name The Paladins soon changed to [a=The Spectres (2)] (another previously-documented early name, The Scorpions, is disputed). 
In 1966, the band changed their name to "The Traffic", shortly thereafter to [a=The Traffic Jam (2)]. The lineup consisted of Lancaster, Rossi, [a=John Coghlan] (drums) and [a=Roy Lynes] (keyboard).
A year later, the band changed name once again to "The Status Quo". [a=Rick Parfitt] (guitar) joined the band. Their first hit record, "Pictures of Matchstick Men", was released. "The" was omitted from the name of the band in 1969, known thereafter as just "Status Quo"

Status Quo second studio album Spare Parts is the final one in the psychedelic vein. Although not their most well-known record, a deep listening reveals that Spare Parts is an underrated effort in some aspects. Some songs work as an excellent reflection of how pop music was trying to develop itself. This special release features both the mono as stereo recordings, divided on two LPs. The album also covers a song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, “You’re Just What I Was Looking for Today”.
