The Gathering is a Dutch alternative rock band founded in 1989. They started off as an atmospheric death/doom metal group, drawing inspiration from underground acts like Celtic Frost and Hellhammer. In 1994, the addition of vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen marked a shift in their musical style. Influenced by shoegaze, post rock, experimental rock, and bands from the ethereal sounds of 4AD label such as Dead Can Dance and Cocteau Twins, as well as Pink Floyd and Massive Attack, The Gathering expanded their sound to include elements of progressive, alternative, and trip rock. They gained recognition beyond Europe and continue to experiment with their music.

In 2007, Anneke van Giersbergen left the band to focus on her solo project Agua de Annique. Silje Wergeland (ex-Octavia Sperati) became the replacement vocalist for The Gathering in March 2009. Their album "Afterwords" was released on October 25th, 2013.

Aside from their discography, The Gathering has also collaborated on notable projects. In 2005, they provided music for the educational project "Passengers In Time: The Musical History" by professor Wim Kratsborn. Although not considered an official release by the band themselves, four members of The Gathering contributed to [m=458449].

Peaceville is an English label founded by Paul Halmshaw, also known as Hammy, in 1987. The label primarily focuses on metal music and has gained a reputation for its high-quality releases. In 2000, Peaceville was sold to Snapper Music but continues to thrive under their ownership.

Throughout its history, Peaceville has used various catalog number formats to distinguish different types of releases. From 1987 to 1995, the label used "VILE ### T" for 12-inch singles, maxis, and EPs; "VILE ###" for LPs; and "VILE ### P" for picture LPs. From 1987 to 2002, CD releases were labeled as "CDVILE### / VILE ### CD," while MCDs/singles/EPs were labeled as "CDMVILE### / VILE ### TCD." Limited CDs were marked with "CDXVILE###."

In later years, Peaceville introduced new catalog number formats such as "CC#" for the Collectors Club series of 7-inch records in 1993-1994. The Frozen Autumn is an Italian darkwave band, formed in May 1993 in Turin, Italy. Originally the solo project of singer, keyboardist and synth programmer Diego Merletto, guitarist Claudio Brosio joined on during early studio sessions and live performances. Together they recorded and released two albums, "Pale Awakening" in 1995 and "Fragments of Memories" in 1997. In 1998, Claudio left the band and Diego recruited Arianna (aka Froxeanne) who sings, programs and composes. After 18 months of work, The Frozen Autumn's third album, "Emotional Screening Device", was released in April 2002.. "Time Is Just A Memory" is a 6-track overview of songs from The Frozen Autumn's first three albums. Characterized by a blend of melancholic vocals, atmospheric gothic-wave and 1980s-style electropop, the duo call their style "frozen wave". The Frozen Autumn have stated that labelmates Clan of Xymox have been their main source of inspiration over the years. Other influences include Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, The Sisters of Mercy, Xmal Deutschland, David Sylvian and Depeche Mode. These six tracks stand out for their rich melodies, from the guitar-laden early tracks "Dusk Is Like A Dagger", "Wait For Nothing", "There's No Time To Recall", and "This Time," to the electronic sheen on later songs "Is Everything Real?" and "Silence Is Talking". All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The release is housed in a custom-made jacket by Peer Lebrecht, from German electro/synthpop band The Dust Of Basement, incorporating a photograph by Diego over a textured background that recalls early 4AD designs. Each copy comes with a double sided 11x11 insert with lyrics and notes.
