The Moody Blues are a British rock group from Birmingham, England. They were formed in 1964 and have been recognized for their contributions to music by being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

The band consists of Ray Thomas on flute, saxophone, harmonica, and vocals from 1964 to 2002; Mike Pinder on keyboards and vocals from 1964 to 1978; Graeme Edge on drums, percussion, and spoken word from 1964 to 2018; Justin Hayward on guitar and vocals from 1966 to 2018; John Lodge on bass and vocals from 1966 to 2018; Clint Warwick on bass from 1964 to 1966; Denny Laine on lead vocals and guitar from 1964 to 1966; and Patrick Moraz on keyboards from 1978 to1991.

The Moody Blues arrived at the third Isle of Wight Festival in August 1970 as one of the worlds top rock bands. Jimi Hendrix, The Who and The Doors were among the other attractions, but the Moodies could travel to the island content that their third album in 2 years, A Question Of Balance, was sitting pretty at the top of the UK chart: predecessors On The Threshold Of A Dream and To Our Childrens Childrens Children had made 1 and 2 respectively, so there was no doubting the quintets status among such stellar company.
