The Pineapple Thief is the musical vision of Bruce Soord, formerly with Vulgar Unicorn. He started TPT as an outlet for his music back in 1999.
In the spring of 2002, after the third album, Variations on a Dream, which was probably the album that gave TPT the boost they needed, reaching out to yet more people all over the world, Bruce decided to form a band to take his music to the fans. The band consisted of his close musical friends - former university band mate Jon Sykes on bass, Wayne Higgins on guitars, Matt O'Leary on keyboards and Keith Harrison on drums. Matt has since left but Steve Kitch (who co-produced and mixed the fourth album 10 Stories Down) has since joined to play keyboards. Wayne Higgins left the band in March 2008, but the group continues as a four-piece live act.
The first six albums were released on Cyclops records. In late 2007, the band were signed to Kscope Records who would later re-release their older albums.

Kscope is a London-based label specializing in the progressive genre of current music. Launched in 2008, it is a division of Snapper Music, one of the industry's most respected and influential independent labels.

With an impressive roster of talented artists, Kscope has become synonymous with innovative and boundary-pushing music. The label prides itself on discovering and nurturing unique talents who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible within their respective genres.

An excellent album of pained and melancholic guitar music, What We Have Sown features Bruce Soord showcasing his songwriting and more of his guitarwork. The first five songs are an excellent blend of accessibility and vocal-driven melancholia, followed up by the album's tour de force 27 minute What Have We Sown?. CD - Mid-price CD featuring a new 2018 remaster and presented in a digipack packaging complete with an 8-page booklet. This edition of the album features three bonus tracks; the first two from the 2012 Kscope edition, and the final song is a previously unreleased version of Well, I Think That's What You Said?, which was the original version written by Soord, who now considers it to be just as good as the album version. 2LP - Newly Remastered for Vinyl.
