The Pogues were an Irish-British Celtic punk/folk band, active since the early 1980s. Originally known as "Pogue Mahone" (meaning "kiss my arse" in Gaelic), they gained popularity with their unique blend of traditional Irish music and punk rock influences.
After a successful run, the band split in the mid-1990s but later reunited in 2001. Despite their ups and downs, The Pogues left an indelible mark on the music scene with their raw energy and rebellious spirit.
Led by frontman Shane MacGowan, The Pogues captivated audiences with their heartfelt lyrics and distinctive sound. Their final show took place in August 2014, marking the end of an era for this iconic group.

After two releases that fused Clash-like punk and Celtic folk, the Pogues stretch their boundaries with 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' from 1988. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' flirts with jazz, world music and even norteno - the gloriously romp-y 'Fiesta' sounds as if whiskey-parched vocalist Shane Macgowan hooked up with east LA's Los Lobos. Nonetheless, this is still the Pogues, meaning that when the day is done, 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' still feels as if it was born out of the bottom of a pint of guinness. It's gritty, wildly spirited and, in the case of the ballad 'Fairytale in New York' (a duet featuring Kirsty Maccoll), heartbreakingly beautiful. Another great record by one of the '80's more iconoclastic bands. This remastered CD version includes 6 bonus tracks and new liner notes / packaging.
